Kevin Dougherty
Senior Horticulturalist
Kevin spent his formative years in two different places. For nine months of the year, during the school year, he lived in a red brick apartment in a housing project in the heart of Boston. The summer months, however, found him on a 1,200-acre farm in very rural Southern Indiana, which belonged to his great-grandparents. It was on this farm, particularly in Grandma Eula’s acre-and-a-half vegetable garden, that Kevin was first introduced to plants.
His true passion for horticulture emerged in 1985 while he was recovering from a broken leg in Oaxaca, Mexico. Since then, he has pursued a career in horticulture, botany, and gardening/farming. Through his experiences working in retail and wholesale plant nurseries, on farms, and with landscaping and ecological restoration companies, his enthusiasm for horticulture continues to grow!
