Quail Hollow Quarry – Reclamation and Monitoring

Scotts Valley, CA

ECI managed the restoration of GraniteRock's Quail Hollow Quarry

Project Description

ECI was hired by Graniterock to provide reclamation, monitoring, and consulting services at the Quail Hollow Quarry in Felton, CA. This work ensures compliance with the Implementing Agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the County of Santa Cruz. Restoration goals include creating and maintaining conditions suitable for numerous listed species of plants and animals, which are found only in the Zayante Sandhills habitat. Ongoing erosion control projects mitigate the effects of water and wind in order to protect air and water quality, to enhance the aesthetic quality of the viewshed, and to promote a self-sustaining cover of indigenous vegetation. This revegetation helps to maximize the ecological function of the corridors connecting adjacent protected habitats surrounding the quarry.
