Crystal Springs Reservoir Pipeline and Dam Improvements

San Mateo, CA

Plantings and erosion control infrastructure on hillside above Crystal Springs Reservoir dam on SFPUC land

Project Description

ECI prepared a habitat restoration plan to restore riparian woodland along the pipeline, and served as the contractor’s restoration consultant and inspector, interfacing with SFPUC environmental staff to ensure compliance. ECI performed all restoration field work including site preparation, invasive plant removal, hydroseeding, native plant installation, plant protection, truck watering, maintenance, and providing as-built documents. Services also included site-specific seed collection, plant propagation, and monitoring for a 36 acre mixed woodland-grassland mitigation site.  Invasive plant control was extensive, and included treatment (herbicide and solarization) of Acacia species and invasive grasses, with accompanying GIS mapping. ECI installed 900 trees and shrubs, 1100 willow stakes, and 28 acres of hydroseed.
