Wetland and Creek Mitigation

Lennar Construction, while building multi-residential homes, had displaced local wetlands and reaches of creeks in the San Ramon Hills. Per the county regulations, Bollinger Canyon location was chosen to construct a wetland and creek mitigation project, with 6 constructed wetlands totalling upwards of 6,000 square feet and almost 1,200 lineal feet of creek bed. Planting and irrigation were also added to the wetlands and creek banks, to help comply with mitigation and aid in restoration development.

The wetland/creek system is designed to accept storm water runoff from the neighboring roads and hills and to filter, redirect and slow/sink/spread out the storm water surge into the multiple wetlands. The plants selected were native to adjacent wetland ecosystems, and are irrigated by the collected storm water. Installed by ECI and Bay Area Backhoe representatives, the site displaced just under 100,000 cubic yards of soil and in turn was transformed into a creek and wetland system, buffered and surrounded by new plantings and old growth oak trees, ECI is proud to have been selected to install this system and look forward to additional wetland and creek installations in the near future.
