Bay View Elementary School front entry learning garden with native plants

Project Description

For this project, ECI teamed up with MADI Architects to create a new and ecologically mindful campus for the Bay View Elementary school.
Dealing with existing issues of storm runoff, unkept play space, awkward parking, and a lack of student learning space, ECI worked to solve the plethora of landscape related issues. Pictured above are the front entry learning gardens, which was Part 1 of 2 for this project. These gardens are equipped with the latest technologies in rainwater harvesting and stormwater management. In total, the landscape features 6 large cisterns to collect rain water. The learning gardens featured here showcase native plants and actively flood during high water storms. Decomposed granite and permeable pavers also help to reduce runoff in this landscape.
