PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The overall project purpose is to bring the Lower Crystal Springs Dam into compliance with Division of Safety of Dams requirements. The basic project purpose is to retrofit the dam to accommodate the Probable Maximum Flood. The dam spillway would be widened, its crest would be reshaped and raised, the parapet wall would be raised, and a new stilling basin would be built at the toe of the dam to replace the existing stilling basin. Under the proposed project, post construction operations of Crystal Springs Reservoir would generally be the same as current operations, except that the maximum normal water surface elevation would be four feet above its current level.
